I just discovered through digg a – quite old – post about MySpace implications in an eventual job search process. That’s absolutely true in my opinion.
I’m not saying MySpace is evil, but if you love social networking maybe you would like to take a look at this post @ toplawstudent.com, and read some smart tips to avoid embarassing situations and use this kind of services in a more responsible way

I agree except to say Myspace is evil
. And if I could get on it at work, I would delete mypage right now!
Hehe, well I have not a MySpace page, I believe it’s quite childish, but it’s just my personal opinion.
The matter is that still so many people think about the internet as a place where actions do not have any effect. That’s not true, obviously.
I still believe social networking is a powerful instrument, but it’s supposed to be used carefully as any other service affecting users’ privacy on the web.
Younger users usually don’t understand (or don’t care about) privacy implications, and the risk is they will understand (or be forced to care about) them in the worst way in the next years.
Not only is this true in the job search area, but it’s also true for current employees. The president of the company found my myspace profile because I am a friend of the company’s myspace page. Luckily, he’s a nice guy with a good sense of humor. I have since set my page to private.
Thankfully, I am not a gossip monger or person with dark secrets. Some people might not be so lucky.
Hehe…yes, you’ve been quite lucky

Just go and play in a rockband, where a Myspace is inevitable and you don’t have to worry about bosses. Nah, just kidding. But this is true, even when you see the amount of friends of someone. If they have too many you think that they spend all of their days behind Myspace. If they don’t have a lot of ‘em, they don’t know how to use a computer..
